(Sr) Associate Scientist, Analytical Chemistry

Job description

Scismic is supporting the growth of a biotech company in the Greater Boston area!

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated team player to perform laboratory works related to CMC activities that includes but not limited to, buffer preparation, pH, osmolality measurement, sample and media preps, running gels (SDS-PAGE and Agarose), protein and nucleic acids isolation & purification, endotoxin measurement and sterility assays, dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements, HPLC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, qPCR etc. Candidate in this this role will contribute significantly towards the research activities within our company. The individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day lab related activities and research operations. 


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plasmid preparation (Mini and Maxi-preps)
  • Prepare buffers, reagents and samples for running SDS-PAGE and Agarose electrophoresis gels
  • Perform UV measurement for protein and nucleic acid concentrations
  • Perform osmolality measurements
  • Perform endotoxin and sterility assays
  • Document all the experimental procedures and lab activities
  • Comply with appropriate biosafety and regulatory requirements
  • Dynamic light scattering measurements
  • Assist Director/Senior scientist in various scientific projects
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Life sciences.
  • 1- 3 years of working experience in a laboratory setting (Academia or Industry) and conducting biochemical and biophysical experiments. Familiarity with common Physicochemical and molecular biology techniques is a plus
  • Experience with advanced analytical methods such as HPLC, DLS, UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, Diafiltration, qPCR etc. would be a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoints, general lab graphing software (GraphPad prism/Origin etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethics
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team-based environment and interact with individuals of various backgrounds and levels within the company
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new tools and techniques related to the work
